Anti-Intellectualism: An Absurd Stigma

There is no person more reviled in academia than the so called "anti-intellectual." Yet even a cursory dictionary search will discover that this heavily stigmatized term is a complete invention of the modern age, which has only been produced to defend the ivory towers of academia from the repeated assaults of common sense. The word "anti-intellectual" is in fact most associated with the Frankfurt school of marxism. Specifically a book published by members of that group called The Authoritarian Personality. This deeply flawed piece of research essentially outlines thier perspective on why Germany became fascist in the 30's and states that distrusting academics is a trait which makes one likely to be a fascist. This is nothing more than a cheap statement that those who disagree are Hitler or the Nazis.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not against the concept of using one's intellect to reach meaningful conclusions, we do it all the time and it's what makes us human. This article however, will be entirely against the notion of the dedicated, career intellectual, and the near-feudal snobbery and distain for the "unwashed masses" which is the hallmark of his petty worldveiw.

Intellectualism is not an asset, it is an attempt to privatize intelligence as the property of a few, and keep it locked up in universities. Intellectualism is not Socratic, it is anti-Socratic sophistry designed to make you feel like an inferior thinker if you don't have a degree, and still further, to allow people to pay you less for your mental exertions if you are indeed not part of the elite preisthood of intellectualism.

The reality of intellectuals however, (the vast majority at least) is that they are a conceited cult of moralizers who haven't a clue except for the specialized field that they have trained in, yet they feel as though their degree has given them a right to have you follow thier sophistic ignorance as if it were gospel.

I suppose that this all came to a head of late when Donald Trump won the presidency and those leftists who belong to that exalted caste of self-centred moral rejects known to themselves as intellectuals, petitioned New Zealand to open thier borders to scholars fleeing persecution in the United States. Richard Dawkins wrote to New Zealand thusly:

***************************************

Dear New Zealand

The two largest nations in the English-speaking world have just suffered catastrophes at the hands of voters -- in both cases the uneducated, anti-intellectual portion of voters....

****************************************

Richard Dawkins is like the rest of his ilk, because he knows about biology or some other field, he thinks he understands politics and everything else about life. Richard Dawkins penned a letter to New Zealand, demonstrating his clear hatred for disagreement and outlining how he thinks less of you. No doubt Anna Kasparian was indoctrinated to beleive that her degree makes her better than everyone else too.

But as for you dear reader, I would advise that you strongly distrust people who think they know better.
