In a vision, a man realized he had to build the world's tallest treehouse.

God told Horace Burgess that he would never run out of materials while building this magnificent structure, and he never did.  He built all 10 stories of it with hundreds of thousands of nails and wood he received from donation or salvation from sheds, barns and garages.  In his visions, he was shown how it was supposed to look and told that he no longer had to preach, because his building would do the speaking.

He constructed a 97 foot twisting palace with hidden rooms and secret passageways, situated on the base of an oak tree.

"I built it for everyone to come and enjoy," says Burgess, "hoping that every person that'd ever come to visit would be changed for the good."

It really is an awesome sight.

In 2012, the state of Tennessee closed the treehouse, listing eight offenses including; exceeding allowable height by sixty feet, uneven decking and steps, fall hazards resulting from no guardrails, no obvious exit signs, and no fire alarm, sprinkler system or fire extinguisher.  A petition circulated by members of the community to reopen fell short, but there is obvious support to reopen to the public.

I'd like to go regardless.
