The new competition is between the promoters of the "man-made global warming via CO2" vs the "they are using geoengineering to cause global cooling".

Here's a MeWe debate with an introductory comment. I try as hard as I can to educate people about scientific facts that are really basic, but the false beliefs are too damn entrenched on all sides...
So it all started with the user @FIREBALL SEAWATER (sic!) on MeWe posting the latest projections of an incoming hurricane in Florida:
I suggested that storms might actually get worse as the climate is cooling and storms are worse when the global temperature is lower. She suggested that the current cooling could be caused by "geoengineering". I replied that this was totally impossible and provided reasons why we cannot alter the climate.
She persisted, so I added more information to my argument.
She got angry and instead of replying to my rational, factual, scientifically grounded explanation, she blocked me, preferring to stick to her absurd belief.
So let me first make the case again in no uncertain terms, followed by our actual debate, below:
Mankind cannot change the climate
This conspiracy psychosis is as severe as the "man-made global warming" propaganda and I would not be surprised if it was spread by the exact same people!
You can read the entire exchange below. What's really shocking is when you explain something in a cohrent way, with easily verifiable facts and figures, and everything you say goes totally over the other person's head.
I started by posting my meme about solar energy to establish the ridiculously low amount of energy humanity controls:
Right after I posted the fact that the ice on and around Antarctica was at close to record levels, this person I was debating replied:
"What do you think happens to warmth when the sun is blocked?"
But ... the sun is not blocked! How in the world did she get the idea that the sun was "blocked"?
Bill Gates has this idiotic idea of spreading dust at high altitudes to "block the sun", but so far, that hasn't happened:
For now, the launch of his balloon is delayed until 2022 and it's far from certain that he can actually do it. Or that it will have any measurable effect.
This is the kind of cause you need to generate any measurable weather effect - let alone to change climate (i.e. longer-term): a massive volcanic eruption!

Imagine that - such a massive geological event that developed forces totally beyond human reach only caused 0.5C cooling, an effect that tampered off over the following 5 years.

It's totally IMPOSSIBLE for humanity to reproduce such a thing. Bill Gates may be able to spread maybe a few tons of dust which will have virtually zero effect, as it will sink faster than he can bring up more of it into the stratosphere. Even a maximum payload is ridiculously small.
What the debater on MeWe claimed is that it has already been done, which is obivously untrue.
The core question for this insane belief in geoengineering to cool the planet remains: Why would alarmists go against the man-made global warming narrative and secretly try to cool the earth?"
Humanity has no influence on the climate except for extremely local, tiny changes, such as the urban heat effect, cloud seeding to provoke rainfalls from existing rain clouds, and small changes to local wind patterns by large-scale off-shore wind farms.
That's why the alarmists - like all scammers - simply use existing trends to make up claims and whenver the trend changes, alarmists change their claims.

And when the climate trend changed, they simply switched to Global Warming while denying that they had ever promoted fear of global cooling, in a totally orwellian propaganda move.
The alarmists cannot change the climate with geo-engineering, humanity is not chaning the climate with CO2. They just lie and use fearmongering!
If they could change the climate, they probably would. But if they could, they would heat the planet, to support their "man-made global warming" propaganda. They would not secretly cool the planet, cause massive snowfalls and floodings that contradict their own predictions.

Even if we used the ENTIRE energy humanity uses just to affect the climate, our effect would be about 0.1%.
Geoengineering is IMPOSSIBLE!
The most we can do is cause existing cloudes to rain through seeding - and only under positive conditions.
Never believe ANY such BS - neither about CO2 warming nor about any other form of "geoengineering".
I studied physics - both are materially impossible.

I won't waste my time on it, as the IMPOSSIBLE is IMPOSSIBLE, by definition!
You can't have an effect without providing the cause.
To cause "climate change", you'd need massive amounts of energy.
Look at the data above - humanity has control over barely 0.01% of the solar energy that reaches earth.
There's no "trick" by which we could alter the outcome of natural processes to alter the weather, let alone the climate.
The energy of a single storm massively exceeds the entire energy used by humanity over an entire year. [An average tropical storm is powered by 20 times the entire yearly energy consumed by humanity]
We do not have enough energy to evaporate enough water to create one large rain cloud.
What altered the climate, briefly, was the explosion of the Krakatoa vulcano. For about 3-5 years, it slightly dimmed the sun by putting hundreds of tons of volcanic ashes into the stratosphere. That caused a little global cooling. Temporarily.
The force of that explosion was at least as powerful as 10x the entire nuclear arsenal humanity ever built. At least. The explosion could be heard 3000 km away. [the shock wave traveled twice around the entire planet]
We could never cause a similar event.
So what do you think particles sprayed from airplanes could do?
NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING!
The quantities we can move - by any means - are ridiculously small.
The ENTIRE amount of petrol we used since 1850 would maybe fill 180% of lake Geneva, in Switzerland. A minuscule drop on the planet.
Burning up such a tiny quantity of petrol should "alter the climate"? 😂
It's quite simple: if the planet was a living being, it would not even know that we exist.
And again: what goal would be achieved if they caused cooling, which contradicts their ideological fearmongering about alleged "man-made warming"?
The extent of sea and land ice on the Antarctic are close to record levels. They measured extremely low surface temperatures of -98C.
I seriously hope that you do not think that this could be achieved through technical methods. Try to figure out how much energy such cooling would require based on the consumption of a typical freezer...
