The Best Christmas Gift

This time of year money can be very tight. We always want to buy gifts for people but with the bills it is often hard to have enough left over to buy people the things we would like to. It is also the time of year most people give themselves the horrible gift of credit card debt. Love yourself enough not to do this to yourself.

The fact is, nothing is a better give than love. I saw a saying once that said ,"it is not what's under the tree but who is gathered around it". So true. Giving of self is more precious than anything that money can buy. While I am guilty of spending a little more than I should (not credit card purchases) to get those special people in my life things they literally need, I also craft all year long with a specific project in mind. I make the same craft in bulk then give them to everyone.

These homemade gifts are much more appreciated than anything that can be store bought and I see my creations year after year in people's home which proves to me that the gift I made is not only treasured but also timeless. This is something we can all do. It is a memory. A reminder of your love and friendship. And time is all the sacrifice you need. I think the fact that you spent your time for someone to make them something is more appreciated than what you can buy a person.

So, I would urge everyone to try it one year and see the smiles it brings, the hearts it warms and the love it shows to give of your time, to give of yourself. Help your elderly neighbor set up a tree that they otherwise would not have been able to. Volunteer at places that do things of good will for strangers. Bake cookies and place them on neighbors doors with a christmas card. Give a homemade gift to a new neighbor and make them feel welcome. Love and kindness go a long way and is assuredly never forgotten by the recipient. This will warm the heart and means more than you know. Merry Christmas and wishes for a blessed New Year to all who read this.
