Some members of the legislature seem to think reparations are a good idea

I disagree.

Where does the money come from?

We all know government money has to come from somewhere.  That somewhere is usually taxpayers.  It would be incredibly ignorant to assume all taxpayers are white or descendants of slave-owners.  There's been far too much immigration in the country to expect that.  So who gets to pay for these crimes they didn't commit against their fellow man?  Will they be descendants of black slave owners like Anthony Johnson?

Where does the money go?

Does it go specifically to people that have evidence they are direct descendants of slaves?  How much evidence is needed to claim reparations?  Will descendants of Irish Americans be paid as well?

Are the sins of the father the sins of the son?

A valid question that the Bible answers many times throughout its pages.

I've found that God only holds a grudge against bloodlines that "hate" Him according to the Bible, but also that it is not man's duty to exact vengeance, but God's.  Not being a Christian and certainly not being perfect, my conclusion of this could be misguided.

Will anything change?

What would we accomplish with reparations?  Would they unify the country, or divide it even more?  Will people finally be able to let this go and unite in abolishing slavery in other places like Libya?
