Bio: Sandra Hildreth - screenplay writer.
My careers included owning Waltsan Publishing and being a broker in stocks and commodities as well as real estate.
I loved writing so much, I decided to switch my major from math to Journalism which was a very wise choice for me. When a broker with A.G. Edwards, I wrote financial/investing feature articles for Gannet, business newspapers and magazines, hosted two PBS radio programs, and authored the "A to Z of Wall Street" and "Cooking Ostrich with Confidence."
I have been able to travel extensively to Europe and Central America, experienced many adventures, and volunteered a great deal. I snow-skied, raced cars and boats, earned my private pilot's license, served on several non-profit boards and, being b-negative, donated gallons and gallons of blood components at Wadley Blood Bank in Dallas.
Now that I'm retired I delved into the craft of writing screenplays. The transition to creative writing has been difficult after so many decades of fact-driven journalism and, even though I have finished several feature film and TV scripts, have so much more to learn.
What genre(s) of feature films are you primarily writing toward?
I am fairly new to screenwriting but have a tremendous amount of journalistic experience.
I submitted one screenplay to an agent, but have not had a reply.
The screenplay is "Captured," an action drama about three Hollywood professionals that are kidnapped during a fishing trip to Venezuela who escape with the help of another kidnapped as a young child.
How many feature screenplays have you written and submitted?
I also have a TV pilot and several episodes of "Rehoboth Beach" ready for submission. The show is about four lades, friends since college, who retired to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and open a boutique on the boardwalk. Three of the ladies, one of whom is gay, are married and one is divorced. The series is a cross between "Golden Girls" and "Frazier." The show is full of laughs, some sadness, but is always entertaining.
Volunteering to help others- what are you looking for?
I would enjoy volunteering with movie or TV series production in order to see the progression from script to screen.
