Not in the least! It is a question made relevant by the political agenda of the American Left who sort people into “white” and “non-white” (POC).
Since this entire Marxist CRT nonsense spread throughout the US and even started making inroads in Europe, the attacks on white people have reached a paroxism.
Because the left uses this race-baiting for political gain, they had to find a way to exempt some of the people they saw as potential clientele - mostly immigrants from Latin America and from Southern and Eastern Europe - from the hated “whiteness”. So they made up the claim that people from those origins were “not really white”.
The real target for the attacks on “whiteness” are white anglo-saxons and anyone who upholds conservative or libertarian views. When the Smithsonian published this list of what constitutes “whiteness”, they just didn’t realize how many people they would offend. They ended up withdrawing this diagram, but it will forever remain a monument of shame...
So basically, the question is about whether there is any truth to the Marxist re-interpretation of skin color and the simple answer is NO. Nothing about it makes any sense.
The origin of Critical Race Theory
As a lot of people don’t know or dispute the Marxist origin of the extremely racist CRT, I’ll just provide the origin story straight from Encyclopedia Britannica:

In other words, it emerged from the Frankfurt School. But seriously, anything so racist and stupid had to be Marxist… who else but the followers of the ideology responsible for the worst genocides in history could try to divide a country by making everything about skin color?
This is not just some ordinary racism, either. There's no question about the fact that there is race- and ethnicity-based hatred at every level of society and from every racial and ethnic background. It's a basic component of humanity to reject the "other".
Critical Race Theory has nothing to do with this kind of common racism. It started within academia and is not really racism, it just makes use of racism as a tool. It targets one racial group, white people, with the accusation of being inherently and systemically racist against what they call "non-white people", while actively encouraging racism from all the other groups against white people.
It is entirely about political power and the actual race of a person has nothing to do with it, as demonstrated by the utterly insane attacks on Larry Elder during the Newsome recall campaign. Larry Elder was called “the white face of black supremacy”, simply because he does not go along with the agenda of the Left:
