Why So Murderous?

CBS News released an article list of the least-to-most murderous urban centers in the US.

I did a little thinking and digging because I like numbers.

I'm including links to comparison Census data for the:

Top 5 most murderous urban centers per 100K capita

And

Top 5 least murderous urban centers per 100K capita

Just in a quick glance, with one exception (St. Louis, Missouri) the census data is super racist and classist LOL. Honestly, though, St. Louis is the most murderous, but is the exception to the rule in both race/poverty level and level of education. What's going on in St. Louis?

Both of Missouri's showing are in the top 10, including St. Louis occupying the #1 spot and Kansas City occupying the #7 spot. This article by HuffPo, Why Missouri Has Become the Heart of Racial Tension in America from 11/16/15, is what popped up when I searched "Missouri Tensions". Just look at all those black … shirts with the commie fist on them #mysterysolved

For those wondering about gun control measures as, they directly relate to the two top 5 lists: Missouri is also the only state on either list with constitutional carry.

California, New York, and Maryland being the three on either list with the strictest gun control laws. While NY and California urban centers are on the Top 5 least murderous, different Maryland urban centers are on both the top 5 lists.

However here is the break down of how many Constitution Carry states made the whole list:

**The 13 states with Constitutional Carry: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, Wyoming

Of the 13 CC states, 3 made it on the entire list in the CBS News article: Arizona three times, Missouri twice, and Kansas once.

**The top 10 most gun restrictive states are: Pennsylvania, Illinois, Rhode Island, Maryland, Hawaii, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, California

Of the 10 states with the strictest gun control measures, 8 made it on the entire list. California Six times, Maryland three times, Pennsylvania and New York two times each, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts and New Jersey each showing up once on the list.

Once again, finding, on a list of least-to-most dangerous, that neither gun control nor maximum gun allowance are consistently significant factors in rankings related to violence/murder/danger of a state.
