Guilt & Shame - Left's Weapons

Greetings my fellows Minds,

Today I talk about a topic that should be obvious to most yet clearly is not by many as they fall for it every time.

As per my usual let me start by providing definitions

Guilt - feelings of deserving blame especially for imagined offenses or from a sense of inadequacy (link)

Shame - a condition of humiliating disgrace or disrepute (link)

Now we shall delve into how these have been primary weapons for the political left and others of similar ilk, the answer is simple. They used as motivators, namely for change. However as we have seen in the West this weapon is never ending. We are made to feel guilty for slights we have no part of such as women's feelings of oppression, the middle eastern plights, other races in our nation. Now admittedly the main target of this tactic is unfortunately White Men (I refuse to use the complete terminology).

However there is a risk when this tactic is used in the abundance that Feminists, SJWs, Vegans etc use and that is it creates one of a few outcomes:

Apathy - Defined as lack of feeling, emotion, interest or concern, this means a person who is constantly attacked with this technique become somewhat resilient to the effects. However the result means that the person loses interest in problems of genuine concern like when they have done genuinely bad things they will not feel the remorse required.

Depression - This is another troublesome outcome from this targeted abuse means that people slip into negative feelings about themselves which will lead to lack of motivation, lack of consideration of oneself and worse, suicide. How anyone can think this is good is beyond me.

Aggression - This is the one similar to the previous two except it comes with its own warning. Like depression, Aggression is brought about by negative emotions however unlike depression, where the pain is transmitted within, aggression emits it OUTWARDS. This means a person becomes violent, unreasonable (sometimes), uncontrollable etc.

So now the question is if this was so clear why would those that use such tactics keep using it. That is because it is the only tactic that has worked in the past and they want more, so they stick to what they know.

These are examples of guilt/shame being used:

1. The White Feather Campaign - Used by feminists during WW1 on men who didn't volunteer to fight on the front, this was meant as a mark of disgrace, to make the target feel inadequate and therefore Guilt.

2. Veganism - This is an appeal to emotion that a lot of vegans use and that is to make us feel guilty for eating meat, why? Because of their treatment in slaughterhouses. Yet they refuse to target the owners of the slaughterhouses or even the people who support even more barbaric practices like Halal or Kosher.

3. Immigration - We are told that immigrants are coming from poor, unstable regions and that only an unfeeling, evil person would prevent them from entering their nation, a nation built by those that were born there. Yes I am speaking of America as well you bleeding heart liberals.

4. Abortion - Now this is one that is a two sided problem since guilt has been used on the right as well (the baby's life etc) so I shall admit this, what I would like to point out is how we are made to feel guilty for supposedly eroding women's rights for not supporting it.

So what would be the practical solution for this weapon/tactic used?

Sadly I have no such answer, if facts and logic do not dissuade these people from their arguments then clearly either outcome 1 or 3 would be best because either you'd let themselves blow off their steam whereas you lose none wasting your effort on their cause or you'd scare them with aggression into shutting up, in short you overcome them or wait to see if their bluffing.
