This is a memo for the women in America who say they believe her. Believe her is a reference to Dr. Ford who claims to have been assaulted by Mr. Kavanaugh while they were in high school. I've heard US Senators say they believed her before her name came out. I've heard many pundits since her name was released say they believe her. If you believe her I'm not here to degrade you; I'm here to ask you how?
Dr. Ford said there were 4 or maybe 6 people present, and she gave the names of two of them. Both of these people have been asked about the attack. The first is a friend of Dr. Ford's. They remain friends. This friend said she doesn't think Dr. Ford would lie about this, but her friend is not able to offer collaborative evidence this attack happened. She has said that she has no recollection of such an event. The second person named is Mark Judge. Mr. Judge has issued statements saying it did not happen. He is a friend of Mr. Kavanaugh and there is no secret the two were friends - its been published in yearbooks and more. That is only important if you believe in conspiracies and lies though. I don't need to go there.
It was loosely reported that two other boys who were named and present at the party in which Kavanaugh is said to have attacked Ford. This loose reporting says they claim it didn't happen. They have no recollection of anything like this ever happening. Why is this important? No one but Dr. Ford is remembering anything like this event happening. You believe her? That is fine, you are free to believe her, but I'm free not too.
Dr. Ford was at first unable to identify which year this event happened. She is still unable to identify where this event happened. Now that she has the year pretty much identified (summer of 1982) she is unable to say which month, which week, or which day. She is not able to tell us how she got to the party where this occurred or how she got home. You believe her? That is fine you free to believe her and I'm free not too.
Judge Kavanaugh has produced letters from high school students (65), college students (unknown number) and co workers (unknown number) that vouch for his credibility. Dr. Ford has produced only people with a political agenda that will vouch for her credibility. You could say that Mr. Kavanaugh's letters are all politically motivated and I can't refute that. It seems odd though that so many would vouch for him. Dr. Ford has not produced one person who can vouch for this event happening. Dr. Ford can only show that she discussed this event with her husband, a counselor and two friends. None of those discussions are reported to have been had - before Judge Kavanaugh was listed as a potential supreme court nominee by Mitt Romney almost 10 years ago. You believe her? I still don't and I do believe Judge Kavanaugh.
Who will project a more compelling argument in a court of public opinion? A judge with no history of campaigning, no serious public speaking, or a professor of Psychology at one of the nations leading universities? One strikes me as being far more capable of saying what needs to be said, how it needs to be said, and saying it regardless of the truth then the other. That is an opinion and I'm free to have it and you are free to ignore it.
What is not a fact is that Dr. Ford said the attack on her made her so afraid to fly they needed to delay her appearing before the Senate Committee. Yet her opponents have now shown that she flies pretty routinely. What is a fact is that her defenders have raised over $900,000 for her. She claims she's come forward for the good of the country? ($900,000 or good of the country?) One is a fact and one is an opinion. You still believe her? I don't.
Now for the conspiracy in me; why didn't the Democrats, namely Senator Feinstein, have her claim investigated when she received it on July 30? Why didn't she hire a private investigator? Why didn't she submit the claim to the FBI with a demand for anonymity? Why didn't Senator Feinstein ask Mr. Kavanaugh about this claim in private? Did you know they met privately, one on one, no one else present, and yet Ms. Feinstein didn't ask Mr. Kavanaugh one thing about this accusation? This didn't come up until the weekend after the hearings on Mr. Kavanaugh were closed. You still believe her? You still believe them (Feinstein and the Senate Democrats)? I don't.
We are a polarized nation. If you believe her I suspect you don't like conservatives, don't like Trump, and are opposed to Mr. Kavanaugh because you've been told he'll do some horrible harm on the Supreme Court. If you don't believe her, like me, you probably support Trump, Kavanaugh and want a court that will follow the constitution and not create laws. You are free to believe her, and I'm free not too.
I've asked myself this question: What if he is a horrible person that has done this and many other things? I can answer that: I don't want him on the bench. Now I ask you: What if he is innocent and did nothing wrong? Do you still want him on the bench? This does not make me better than you; unless you said no.
