The Choice They Made

Writers and producers for the TV show the Rookie depicted a cop targeted by a street gang in Los Angeles.   When you think of violent gangs in Los Angeles who do you think about?    Well according to the writers it was the 2000 plus member white racist mens street gang.   I didn't even know such a street gang existed in Los Angeles, CA?   Maybe they do, but I can't find reference to it anywhere.

Still they had a choice.   They could have used MS13 which is in the news.   They chose to make it a white racist street gang; so I wanted to see what that might be based on and did my google look.   All I could find were two prison gangs and this one:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_Enemy_No._1_(street_gang)

Public Enemy No. 1 is said to be about 200 idiots state wide in CA not 2,000 in Los Angeles.  Plus there are reportedly, according to the wiki, about 1,350 street gangs in LA with some 120,000 members (that data is really old (2007)).  This information is also just LA not Southern, CA.   Its just sad to me that propaganda is filtering into broadcast mainstream TV shows today.   If you were going to use a street gang as your show's enemy why not one of the 1,347 that are not white?   Out of 1,350?

Racism much?
