Poetic Justice Loser Denied

My Long Story,

In 2009 I had to close a business I had paid a lot for in 2007.  It hurt.  I laid people off.  I sold every asset.  It cost me dearly and but for a boat I ended up homeless.   My life was better off then others since I could at least afford to keep my boat and live on it.  There was that one guy though who bothered me.  That one loser human.  

This loser was in the same business as me, and in fact bought a lot of my assets at fire sale prices - since I was having a fire sale I hold no ill will of him on that.  What he proposed that I do is what bothered me.  In late 2010 when my year long unemployment insurance ran out (because I'd paid myself a wage with insurance premiums and taxes I was able to get it) he suggested that I come to work for him.  Nice as it was the job was $10 an hour and so far from my boat that I couldn't afford it; still I was appreciative.   I asked him "how" he was doing?  He said "great" its freekin awesome.   Since he had 3 business locations and all were separate businesses they were doing spectacular he said.  I was jealous - wow sales are that good I asked?  No he said, sales suck, but it still works since I screw the government.   What I asked?

His success was founded in living out of the cash register and under reporting his income.  He would write himself a pay check for 12 months so that he could score unemployment the next six.   He'd do the same for his wife, his adult daughter and his adult sons (2).  The 5 of them would rotate between business locations pretending to be unemployed when they could to collect benefits.   Once those benefits ran out they'd go on the payroll another six months or a year until they could collect them again.  In any given year at least 3 were collecting unemployment while working under the table.  He bragged about this incisively and wanted to include me.   I balked, went my own way, but I couldn't get it out of my head.   

A few months in to 2011 I was told by this losers brother it was still going in and he was making it thanks to big tax returns and unemployment benefits.  He'd expanded to utilities provided by the poor, the obama phones for the family and health insurance with HUGE deductions that cost next to nothing.  I asked this friend of his how he managed that knowing his wife and kids were regulars at the doctors office - "oh his friend said, he just writes a letter to the health care company, provides a copy of his tax returns with losses, and they let it go."   He never pays for health care  except what little he pays in a premium.   What a loser I thought.  What a guy to milk the system.   He lived large too, traveled to Hawaii, spent a week in Carmel, CA and took 3 adult kids and their friends to Disneyland.  Maybe I was just jealous?  

Maybe I was jealous but I could not live like that and do that.   It was wrong and so I had to do something.  I gathered up the information about his businesses and I sent it to the unemployment offices fraud reporting division as best I could find.   I never heard a word from them.   From what I could tell nothing ever happened to him but after 2012 I never heard from them again.  

Someone a few days ago shared a link with me to fakebook - his wifes account.   I looked - IDK why I looked - but I figured they'd be elated right now getting their $600 extra a week for unemployment?   Nope, it seems they are getting NOTHING, it would seem that they got denied claims on unemployment insurance just recently despite their businesses having to close!  Based on what she reported - they were "over drawn" on their benefits.  They got the $1200 pp stimuli and are getting nothing on unemployment.  

Finally - is the system working?  IDK but I am glad to see con artist losers finally get what they got coming to them in some small way.
