Let me share with all of you, one of my most favorite bbq recipes. The smokehouse burger. Years ago when I was living in Burien WA I bought a grill and starting looking up bbq techniques. Since then my passion for bbq has taken off. For a smokehouse burger you will need a few things.

Bacon

Hamburger

Charcoal

First thing you do is get a package of bacon. you can get regular or thick cut. Depending on what kind of bacon cut you get, will determine the cook time. Lay out as much bacon as you can on the grill. You can do in-direct but it's better with a side box.  The grill's temp will need to be between 225 and 275 degrees. Smoking up bacon will take 30 minutes to 2 hours.

For the heat I used 1 full chimney of Charcoal and use apple wood. When I did the burgers, I used hickory wood.

My grill temp was about 275 and this bacon I let smoke for, 45 minutes. If you want crispy bacon just let it go longer. Now for the burgers.

Take some ground beef and add whatever seasonings you want. We use salt, pepper, garlic, onion soup mix, worcestershire sauce and bbq sauce. Form the hamburger into patties and set them on the grill the same as the bacon.

If you seen a burger press in a store or online, you can save some money with 2 mason jar lids. We put them together and stuffed hamburger into them. Easy peasy.

Smoking the burgers took me about an hour. Giving me that beautiful smoke color, grill marks and cooked all the way through.

Look at the finished results. Took about 2 hours total and it was a better smokehouse burger then what you will find in any bbq restaurant. If your on a diet like keto or low carbs, then use a lettuce wrap from a head of iceberg lettuce and any toppings you want.

Be excellent to each other and drink coffee.
