Firstly thanks for your interest in helping improve and build our community it really does mean a lot to us. We have been building and working with others on Minds for just about three years now, Taiga wasn’t added as a community resource tell 2018 before this point all community building was done via messengers and emails.
We moved to Taiga in hopes it would help users easily contribute in an open way with our community, anyone that signs up with Taiga can log an issue, suggest a feature, or ask a question without having to make contact with us via messenger or email.
Taiga
When you first load our community Taiga you will be presented with the chronological order of recent changes, questions or more as below.
On the left you will see your navigation panel. Here you can search the logs, go to the backlogs (sprints), Wiki, team members and your profile settings.
On the top right you will see a options to like, watch and contact the program.
We are going to go to the “issues” as this is where most contributers want to be, here you can ask your questions, and sort issues by type, severity and more or directly search.
On the top right of the page you will see +New Issue in a green box this is where you want to place your question, issue or whatever for the community here I am logging this blog, as you see I have selected enhancement I think I could have gone to wish-list as well here , but select the drop down you find most appropriate .
Once you have added you issue it will be put on the issue list as New and all users watching the project will get a notification.
Once logged you can open the issue and assign a team member, watch the progress, like the log, update the log, or promote it to a user story.
Backlogs (user stories)
A user story is a issue that has become a project that takes multiple steps to complete, each step can be logged inside the story by making the story into a community sprint with tasks for team members to accomplish to create the bottom line, in other terms these are major changes or updates. We use sprints and stories for group launches and major projects like webpages and chat. If you are not sure if you should promote your issue to a user story please leave it as a basic issue for the team members.
Sprints
A sprint is a current project that is under development that is done in a short amount of time usually with a due date., these will appear on the backlog page in the top right under sprints.
I think that about covers the basics of Taiga only leaving one question, what can you place in our Taiga? Well anything that you think could help our community or relates to our community in some way we are always open to ideas and want to improve or community and are looking for ways how to do this, feel free to join and ask questions!
Why we use Taiga extended
We have run and built with others for a bit now as mentioned above and only recently incorporated Taiga into our community, this programs makes it easier for me to keep track of ongoing projects and things users that use our community #MindsGaming want to see from our community. We host no code currently and this program was integrated for a better cooperative community where any user with that interacts with our community can help improve it.
I hope this has helped you use Taiga and improve our community with us :)
