How Minds Could Make Money By Becoming Decentralized (The Ubuntu Concept) #MindsGaming #OP #OpenMinds

Minds.com to date is still not decentralized, although a major PR point and "goal" of Minds in its infancy it hasn't made any great strides to becoming a fully decentralized social media.

The main reason for this in my view is Minds doesn't believe any money can be gained from making a network decentralized. Here we will be providing the Ubuntu concept of making money off truly open sourced and decentralized environments.

The Concept

Ubuntu a leading open source manufacturer of open sourced operating systems and servers has a simple concept called donations. After you download an Ubuntu product you will see a donation page asking users to support the project and company for providing you with free open sourced software.

Minds could easily use this method of profitability while giving users one of the most looked for features monetization, using the pro concept integrated into a solid install for Minds.

To do this however Minds would need to complete its original vision of becoming fully decentralized, among a few other aspects.

Decentralized Aspects

On a fully decentralized social network users can create their own instance or development while interacting with the main network, this would allow users to post to Minds from personal websites via an API, or their development of the Minds code.

They would need to create a full API that connects to the Minds network for posting, and wires and they would have to set up a dedicated download/ set up page that could also collect donations.

To ensure usability Minds would need to make a user friendly install process for the network as well as the API, preferably a one click launch script.

The downloads would be a process that would allow users to launch Minds or a simple API posting/ wire application for them to post and collect donations in the form of wires from their personal website.

Why It won’t happen

I don’t think Minds is interested in making a fully decentralized network anymore as this would cripple the Minds Pro subscription model, as if you could have a personal website at a much cheaper rate and serve Minds posts to the Minds network as well as your website while collecting wire donations, you would not have much of an incentive to purchase the pro subscription model.

However I think as the pro subscription model starts to fail (I’ll give it three years) Minds may come back to looking for new ideas and remember the Ubuntu concept, so I haven’t fully given up on hope of a fully decentralized, only know for Minds to accomplish it, pro has to start to start to crash and this is only a matter of time in my view.
