Nothing else like dreams exist in our reality so why do we dream and how can we, if at all possible control our dreams?
Many theory's on why we dream have been presented over the course of human history and nobody knows for sure. One of the newest theory's on why we dream is linked to an adaptive mind or "Livewired" brains, and this theory tucks into game theory very nicely.
Livewired is a theory of how our brain evolves, manages and handled our daily experiences and hardships. It subscribes to the theory everything is information in the form of "natural code" that our brains decodes to make our reality around us. It ads to the theory staying that our brains are "Livewired" to adapt to information received or not received.
This brings us to dreams or not received data, as if our brains are live wired to adapt to information not received for example if you lose your eye sight your other functions like hearing and smell would overtake the information center for sight and replace it with data for smell, hearing and ect.
This brings the question why can we see, as we don't use our sight for hours on end when sleeping, and according to the "Livewired" theory other senses would have time to reprogram or replace it with new information centers as its unused data.
Well it seems the sight information center has some self defense mechanisms against this unused data rule, protecting dreams that send in and out information through the information center when you're not even using the function we call dreams. Dreams mimic information much like a chat bot mimicks speech sometimes its great and sometimes it doesn't really make sense, but that's okay as long as information is being presented its being used and cant be overtaken by other information centers.
So now we know why we dream, (I.E its a simulation to keep the information center active). We can try to identify when we are dreaming. Unlike what we know as reality where we can't identify if we are just a brain in a vat or a simulated entity, we know that dreams do not take place in this reality as we have experienced the reality outside of the dream. This is a key to knowing when you are dreaming, if you prepare your brain our yourself to dream mentally before "OK brain I'm about to go to bed om going to be in a dream" or whatever... its easier to identify you're dreaming as your brain is thinking about the physics of the real world somewhere and had "Livewired" itself to think im im dreaming, or this is the theory. Also a key is thinking of repeat dreams before dreaming or similar situations you put yourself in while dreaming and the errors in the data of that dream.
Once you have identified you are dreaming most people will wake up, however after some time you maybe able to subconsciously guide your dreams in the direction you want by thinking about it while dreaming.
