A pinch of science first to dispel negative myths about salt.

What is a salt? From a strict chemical perspective, in chemistry, a salt is an ionic compound that can be formed by the neutralization reaction of an acid and a base. Salts are composed of related numbers of cations (positively charged ions) and anions (negative ions) so that the product is electrically neutral (without a net charge). These component ions can be inorganic, such as chloride (Cl−), or organic, such as acetate (CH3CO−) and can be monatomic, such as fluoride (F−), or polyatomic, such as sulphate (SO2−) Reference

“Salt”, outside of scientific circles, is the one of the most poorly understood nutrients of all time (just after fat, cholesterol and fiber). Doctors often tell patients with high blood pressure, heart disease and other health conditions to reduce or completely eliminate salt from their diets. That’s good advice if table salt is what the patient is consuming. In fact, human beings critically need “salts” for virtually ALL human biochemical reactions. So, adding the right kind of salt to your diet can help:

Energy Levels and chronic fatigue

Adrenal Disorders

Reflux Gastritis (GERD)

Immune System Function

Thyroid Disorders

Weight-loss issues

Headaches

Cholesterol Levels

Anxiety

Bone Density

Blood Pressure
