Project Status

Hello, everyone! Gosh, college has got me behind so I've decided to start writing most of my articles during the weekends and posting them during the week. I apologize to everyone keeping tabs on my indie film! I can tell there are a few since those updates get attention even though I don't Boost them.

A few days ago I purchased Final Draft 11, the industry standard screenwriting software, for approximately $250. Unfortunately, I bought it before realizing I could get a student discount. But what's done is done. After looking over pre-production it turns out Final Draft takes care of a lot of pre-production paperwork as part of its software. That helps a lot because I was dreading putting everything in Microsoft Project. So my current task is moving my Microsoft Word script to Final Draft. Then I will start on a journey of figuring out all of Final Draft's pre-production features.

This will also give me a chance to update the script with the feedback I've been given.

In the past I've talked about submitting the script to screenwriting services. I think I will go and try SellingYourScreenplay.com's screenwriting service after I've finished with the script . I will get the 3-script-reading package so I can get 3 different opinions from 3 different industry experts. It will also let me know if I should use their services in the future.

I hesitate to try it out since this film's budget is so low. But I reckon in the long term it may open an option for industry-level feedback since most of my feedback is from friends and family. It would also be nice to know how well my script rates compared to other submissions.

Other Stuff

I've been posting movie reviews since I got on AMC theater's A-List. (Not a promotion. Just talking about it.) Three movies a week has been pretty nice. It's only $20 a month. I feel like I'm stealing. I get to stand in line at the theater in a special lane and skip past everyone when I want to buy food. The irony is that everyone in the other line is paying between $10 to $15 a ticket, and I'm paying, like, $3 a ticket per month if I exhaust all my movies. I'm making out like a bandit.

My Lessons Corner have stopped. Not because I don't want to do it anymore, but because juggling college work and this Minds stuff is tough. There used to be an incentive to work on it more knowing I'd make enough tokens in a week from Minds to promote at least two items a week. But Minds did something to the algorithm. I was making between 10 and 15 tokens a week. But now I'm barely scraping past 5.

I used to just go onto the profiles of other people and leave comments; that used to earn me activity credit. But Minds stopped that so there's not much incentive to communicate with people. Instead, I have to hope I earn at least 5 tokens by getting people to my channel somehow just to put myself out there through Boost.

But I do plan to write more Lessons Corner. I just can't put them out regularly anymore.
