BLOG: Another fail... Kinda.

Today I harvested the remains of my tomatoes. In all honesty I have really only harvested about 8 ripe specimens and one semi-ripe fruit.

After a week of waiting for any new ripe fruit I have given up.
This is what I get for getting my plants in the ground so late. With the crappy Spring we had and the very late frosts, sigh... This year was just not working in my favour!

As you can see the plants themselves were dying. The season is all but over, with cooler nights and heavy dew mornings on the way these plants would have only been good in a greenhouse.

I am also very worried about blight and other issues. While I don't think that the plants had blight, they didn't look like the blight ridden plants I had 2 years ago... So, I don't know.
So, with that said... I got all my unripe fruit, a total of around 3.5 kilos. (7 lbs 11oz)... And one nice ripe tomato. B-)

I did have a lot more fruit picked, but the rest were either too small or nibbled by insects in one way or another, so they had to go onto the compost heap, let the birds help themselves.

And so now I need to work out how to colour up all these tomatoes. I do have a couple of ripe bananas that could help push the ripening a little. With a little luck and a bit of paper, they will colour up.

The issue now is... Do any of them actually have blight?
I hope not, but those plants did look bad... I will have to keep an eye on the tomatoes as they turn.
