Mexican Standoff
I hate to be Captain Obvious here, but I'm sure these migrants passing through Mexico aren't just looking for jobs. If that was the case, they would have stopped in Mexico and that would have been the end of it. They've continued moving toward the U.S.-Mexico border undeterred by a clear and present threat to their lives. I believe that someone or some group of people closely connected to the Democrat Party is offering a cash reward to the migrants which they would collect at various locations if they're successful at entering our country. I don't doubt that they'll also be given leads to employers who hire illegal immigrants and 12-to-a-room housing would most certainly be arranged for them in advance of their arrival.
If this bit of reasonable speculation is, in fact, true then the immigrants have also been told that President Trump, our military and our law enforcement agencies would never use deadly force against them; and the worst that could happen to them is arrest and a return trip to their countries of origin. This would assuage their fears and make the trip worth the risk and their effort. However, it's looking very much like President Trump isn't bluffing and deadly force might be used after all. And, this brings me to the motives of the Dems - if you haven't already figured it out.
The Dems believe - according to my hypothesis - that they're forcing Trump into a situation wherein his defeat is the inevitable outcome. If Trump backs down then the migrants enter the U.S. and disappear until the 2020 election comes around. Not only will Trump look weak to his base but, the Dems will have possibly tens of thousands of new illegal voters with whom they can use to strategically bolster their weakest voting districts. If, however, the President stands behind his threat to authorize deadly force against the migrant caravan then he risks creating the worst optics imaginable for himself if the situation ends with thousands of unarmed migrants being killed.
The Dems would obviously spin Trump's decision against him and use it as just one more excuse to call for his impeachment. Undoubtedly, there would also be many people, both domestically and abroad, who would call for him to be tried for crimes against humanity. However, these people will be the same people who have been gunning for the President even before he was elected. It's possible that Trump will lose some of his more moderate voters in 2020 if the latter scenario takes place but, I think he'll lose a lot more of his base if he backs down.
The Dems are desperate and are willing to use the most underhanded and illegal tactics in their playbook to undermine Trump's chances for victory in the 2020 election. However, just as in the case of the Dems' attempt to smear Kavanaugh, they will most certainly fail at vilifying President Trump in the eyes of his supporters for using deadly force against a dangerous invading migrant horde. In my estimation, the best thing that we on the right can do at this moment is insist on a national voter I.D. card to prevent illegal immigrants from voting. If we can make this happen, then we can take pleasure in the knowledge that all of the money the Dems have undoubtedly spent on this stunt will have been a complete waste.
