1. Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand

Among all the national parks in India, the corbett national park is the oldest and one of the best among the top 5 national parks in India. It was established in 1936 to protect the imposing Bengal Tigers. Located at the foothills of the Himalayan range of Uttarakhand, Corbett National Park is one of the hot spots of the wildlife lovers.

This park has been named after the popular wildlife story writer Jim Corbett. Beauty and wilderness of this park attracts enthusiasts from various parts of the globe. This wildlife tourist destination of India has also been featured in many wildlife documentaries in order to raise the awareness towards the mighty and stunning Bengal Tigers.

2. Keoladeo Ghana National Park –Bharatpur, Rajasthan

Keoladeo Ghana National Park is one of the man-made wetlands in India that has been declared as a National Park. It was formerly called as ‘Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary’.

This park hosts a large number of avifauna during the summers and is considered as one of the best national parks to observe exotic migratory birds and other birds of India. Located in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan, this park serves as a primary centre for ornithologists and other zoological studies.

3. Ranthambore National Park, Rajasthan

The ranthambore national park, Rajasthan, is one of the national parks in India. It is ranked as one of the top 10 wildlife sanctuaries in India.

The majestic Tigers are the pride of this national park. Surrounded by the Banas and Chambal River, this park serves as an ideal habitat for the predators and other animals of this park. 4. Pench National Park, Madhya Pradesh

While visiting the Pench National Park in Madhaya Pradesh, the childhood fantasy of most of the visitors will turns into reality. Rudyard Kipling’s ‘The Jungle Book’ is based on the natural surroundings of this national park; this park is also known as ‘Mowgli Land’.

5. Kanha National Park, Madhya Pradesh

Kanha national park is another sought after destination in the list of national parks of Madhya Pradesh. Established in the year 1955, this park has gained a lot of attention due to its efforts in saving the rare and almost extinct species of the Swamp Deer, also known as ‘Barasingha’. It is also one of the well-maintained parks in Asia.

The other feature of the Kanha National Park is its sunset point called Bamni Dadar. Almost the entire park can be seen from this point. It offers the most eye-catching views of the animals in their natural habitat.

6. Bandhavgarh National Park Madhya Pradesh

The Bandhavgarh National Park is another enticing name in the list of national parks of India. Located in the Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh, it is one of the largest national parks of Madhya Pradesh. Declared as a national park in 1968, this park has a noteworthy number of Tigers in India.

This park also has a significant number of Leopards and Deer. Among all the attractions of Bandhavgarh National Park, White Tigers are the most spectacular.

7. Tadoba nationl park, Maharashtra

Tadoba national park is Maharashtra’s oldest national park It is one of the best tiger reserves of India as tiger population has increased rapidly. Tadoba National Park and Andhari wildlife sanctuary together form the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR).

For the convenience of tourists, jungle safaris are organized to facilitate tiger spotting.

Apart from tigers, you can also spot leopards, gaur, wild dogs, sloth bears, jungle cats, hyenas, sambar, cheetal, nilgai and barking deer. The park is also home to about 181 species of birds, which includes endangered and water birds. One can also spot marsh crocodiles and migratory ducks around the Tadoba lake.

Tadoba tiger reserve has a high rate of man tiger conflict. Several instances have also been reported of wildlife killing domestic livestock.

8. Dandeli National Park, Karnataka

Dandeli, a small sleepy town in the western ghats of North-West India in the state of Karnataka is really proud of beholding the magnanimous wild land under the Project Tiger. The Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary what the name of the reserve is; actually locating in Uttarkannada district of Karnataka which is abundantly rich in wide varieties of flora and fauna. Being spread over an area of 834.16 sq.km, this reserve is reputed as the largest sanctuary in Karnataka. The sanctuary is also counted amongst the most attractive tourist spots in Karnataka. There are various wild species, the reserve area of Dandeli actually brings a variety of Bonnet Macaque, deer (barking, mouse and spotted), Indian bison, Malabar giant squirrel, Malabar Civet, pangolin and sloth bear to make the reserve as their ideal home in the forests. The Black Panther, elephants and tigers are rare species to be found in the Dandeli National Park. Reptiles sighted in the park include the King Cobra, Python, Krait, Rat snake and Viper. There are more than 200 species of birds found in the region as to include Malabar Trogon, Pompador Pigeon, Paradise Fly Catcher Ceylon Frogmouth, Great Pied Hornbill, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Malabar Grey Hornbill, Emerald Dove and Lesser Adjutant Stork.

The main wildlife species include Indian Elephant, tiger, leopard, gaur, flying squirrel, mouse deer etc., along with the major counts of the avi-faunas like magpie robin, crested serpent eagle, golden backed woodpecker and a large variety of other birds.

9. Bandipur National Park, Karnataka

The Bandipur National Park is the most popular among all the national parks in South India. It is a natural home to Indian Elephants and several other endangered species. Lush forest of the Deccan Plateau and the Western Ghats makes this park one of the beautiful Wildlife parks in India. The park is located 80 km away from Mysore and almost 215 km away from Bangalore.

10. Periyar National Park, Kerala

The Periyar National Park, Kerala is the only national park in South India as well as in India that has an artificial lake flowing through the forests. Located on the evergreen hills of the Western Ghats, this wildlife sanctuary is also one of the Tiger Reserve Forests in India.

11. DIBRU SAIKHOWA NATIONAL PARK ASSAM

Dibru saikhowa national park is located at 12km north of Tinsukia town of assam. It is also a biosphere reserve. It is a mainly consists of wet evergreen forest, tropical moist deciduous forest cane brake and grassland. Though the park was primarily meant for the conservation of White winged wood duck in its natural habitat, it is also the famous for its bright colored wild horses known as Feral Horses. Some rare and endangered animals of this sanctuary are Hoolock gibbon, capped langur, slow loris, water buffalo, tiger, elephant, gangetic river dolphin etc. Bird life consists of Spot billed pelican, White bellied heron, Pallah's fishing eagle, Pale capped pigeon, Swamp francolin etc. and migratory birds like Geyleg goose, Brahmini duck, Bar-headed goose, pelican, Black stork etc. Best Time to Visit in this park November to April is the best season to visit Dibru Saikhowa National Park, during this period you can enjoy watching migratory birds which are the main attraction of the park.

12. KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK ASSAM

Kaziranga National Park – a world heritage site, the park hosts two-thirds of the world’s Great One-horned rhinoceros. Kaziranga also boasts the highest density of tigers among the protected areas in the world and was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006. Though sighting of tigers are difficult because of the tall grasses that provide excellent camouflage, their presence can be felt everywhere by way of pug marks, kills and territorial markings. The park is home to large breeding populations of elephants, wild water buffalo and swamp deer. The tourism of Kaziranga is not just about spotting one of the many one-horned rhinoceros or tigers but also to watch the three giant herbivores that reside in the park called – The Indian Elephant, The Swamp Deer and the Asiatic Water Buffaloes. The park has also been demarcated as an important bird area by the Birdlife International in order to promote the conservation of endangered species.
