CHAPTER I

Things are not always as they seem.

For most of the time

Things are the other way around

than you may see. Cause and effect are not interchangeable; they are already interchanged inside your mind. For what you think is the effect, often really is the cause; and what you hold to be the cause, is the effect.

Reverse it; pull your thinking inside out, like a glove, and you will see the fabric of the universe.

This will not be about you saving the planet; it is about the planet saving you.

For work alone does not enable you to live - living enables you to work, and stay alive by doing so. You need a source. You need a sink.

But then...

What made the source? What made the sink?

The Blasphemy

They say, the laws of thermodynamics rule everything.

- I say, they do not. If it were so, the universe would not exist - precisely because the laws of thermodynamics would forbid its existence.

I therefore postulate a second, complementary system in the universe that does not abide by the laws of thermodynamics, but follows its own.

They say, entropy - taken here as a measure of what might be described as "disorder" or "chaos", the randomly even distribution of matter and energy levels in the universe - ever increases, it can never decrease.

- I say it does not, it can, and it is doing so as we speak.
  Which is why we speak.

The Consequence:

- Cancel out those two 'sign errors', so to speak, and endless, fruitless, open-ended, unsolvable calculations collapse.

- Leave them in, and your systems remain incalculable. This includes, but not exclusively, the economic system.

The Sun alone currently converts about four and a half million tons of its own mass into energy at every second in time, by nuclear fusion - but its gravitational collapse in itself would generate energy, if less. The amount of mass and energy, respectively, in the universe therefore are not constant.

Now follow me.

There is a lot to cover - everything, in fact.

But if you just want to know what this elaboration is getting at,
you can skip right to the last page.

'United wishes and good will cannot overcome brute facts' Churchill wrote in his War Memoirs. 'Truth is incontrovertible. Panic may resent it. Ignorance may deride it. Malice may distort it. But there it is.'
