Some Musings on the OSR, 8-5-19

   This morning as I was looking through a few social media accounts I noticed a post I had simply emoted since I thought it a bunch of pearl clutching non sense to begin with had expanded to one of those marathon length response that seem to happen from time to time in the aether that is the Interwebz. An emote I had put up on a post on MeWe had been; well, deleted. Myself being partially optimistic assumed it was glitch and went to re-emote my emote reaction the post. Well to my surprise it had a limited field to emote responses to it, Which honestly should not have surprise.

   My question is this; How have we as a sub-culture or hobby known as the OSR who embrace free thought and ideas  become morass-ed with so many Pearl Clutching Pussies? I mean seriously. The majority of arguments in our hobby could be summed up with two options: Change It for Your Table or Don't Play It. There is a  steady march towards a uniformity of thought and honestly it has become aggravating as all fucknot. I like lots of options and lots of publications and when something is a bit to mainstream I'll honestly question it more than the fringe. But that's just part of my personality. 

   To go from hearing endless pissing and moaning about the Dark Days in the 80s where the Moral Panic over reacted to our Fantasy Role Playing Games to seeing those who bitch the loudest become the same Moralistic Authoritarians. I guess you do eventually become the villain if you live long enough. You would figure some of these lard ass neck beards would have Over Dosed on High Fructose Corn Syrup by now but geez they just keep posting and crying over perceived 'Bad Actors' in the hobby. 

   I have been referred to as a bit of a Curmudgeon and honestly I take that as a 50/50 insult/compliment. I know what I like and I am critical of what doesn't move me. I want lots of options in the OSR so I can generally steal concepts and ideas I have not personally dreamt up in my own Mad Imagination. I encourage others to do so as well. Make it your own and have a good relaxing time playing a game with friends, strangers what the fuck ever I really do not care what goes on at your game table. Except Furry Erotica, y'all need to stop you degenerate filth. Just stop and get help OK
