My city it burns!
Hello all, I apologize for not putting up much as of recently. I haven’t been writing for the WIllowsbrook Chronicles. I’m keeping an eye on the horrible events here in Portland. So, it’s kept me from coming up with any ideas. So, I’m going to share this little poem. This will show my thoughts and feelings on everything that’s been happening here in the city of roses. This should get my creativity going again. It’s been a while since I’ve done poetry. I hope you like it.
My city it burns,
My eyes sting with tears.
Anti-fascist fist,
Cloaks true tyranny.
Beauty gets destroyed,
By the touch of rage.
Cooperation,
Replaced by anger.
Hatred for Homeland,
Patriots get scorn.
Officials neglect,
Brings chaos and pain.
Roses deflowered,
Ruined by hubris.
My city it burns,
Division holds sway.
Good will and respect,
Gives way to extremes.
Historical Wrongs,
Festered by bigots.
Resentment and hate,
Sown by the careless.
The nihilists feast,
a bitter harvest.
Professional pride,
Gives way to group think.
My city it burns,
My words show my pain.
The place that I love,
Ruined for nothing.
Abolish police,
Not knowing the price.
When chaos rules all,
The criminal wins.
My city it burns,
And no one speaks up.
Elders standing tall,
As the strong cower.
The youth and desperate
Destroy for tyrants.
A cult runs amuck,
For politicians.
Using the hate mob,
To maintain their hold.
Darkness with no hope,
Sullies the roses.
The people cower,
And corruption wins.
Well, that was interesting. I hope I was able to convey the depths of my emotions on the situation here in Portland with these words. I hope you enjoyed this little piece I wrote.
