Trade is a global activity. That’s for certain. The scale at which it takes place, however, ranges from place to place and company to company. Companies the world over don’t set out with the intention of staying the way they were in the beginning till the very end. The desire to expand one’s business is borne out of the benefits that accrue thereof, which include more profits, more reach, better recognition in the market and more experience. For a company to expand, however, there is a need for more reception from its customers (i.e. greater demand) and the easiest way for this to be achieved is for the company to advertise its product.

The mode by which advertising is done has changed drastically over the years. From newspapers and print media to television and radios to the internet and e-mails and now mobile phones and social media. Advertisements have always been done through avenues that are known to have wide human interaction. It is therefore imperative for the company and advertising agencies to keep abreast of the latest trends that attract the widest attention and showcase their products therein. One of such recent discoveries is the gaming platform. It is estimated that by the end of 2017 there will be 2.21 billion gamers worldwide, and this number is expected to further grow to 2.73 billion by 2021 (statista.com), this is a number that no company can afford to ignore or overlook.

Unfortunately, methods advertisement agencies have employed to gain access to these numbers have proven counter-productive and quite frankly, annoying. As gamers usually had their gaming experience turned unexciting due to constant interruptions by pop-ups that sought to advertise one product or another. This has led to the rise in the number of ad-blockers being used by both phone and computer users to help stem this trend. Other problems that have plagued the game advert industry also include:

• Ad fraud: where advertisers come up with fake figures on how many people they reached.

• The inability of small game developers to come in contact with big companies that need adverts.

• Lengthy and difficult SDK integration by small game developers

• Lack of incentives to gamers themselves.

VREO COMES ALONG WITH THE ANSWER!

After a proper study of both the gaming and advertisement industry and vast years of experience in them, the brilliant minds at Shaping Games AG based in Switzerland brought about the VREO gaming platform that seeks to proffer solutions continually faced in these industries.

So what is Vreo?

Vreo is a platform based on the blockchain that aims to introduce embedded in-game advertising (EIGA) into the fray. With EIGA, surfaces within electronic games that serve as the normal game environment could be allocated to adverts so that gamers are exposed to these adverts without any disruption whatsoever in their gaming experience. The adverts could come in the form of video, audio, banners, posters or billboards. For example, in a racing game, the racer could drive by a billboard with the logo of a certain company that is advertising on that game. Vreo seeks to bring the three parties involved in the EIGA (the companies that seek to advertise, the game developers, the gamers themselves) together on the same platform where they can interact maximally and in the most efficient and beneficent manner. To do this, Vreo:

• Provides plug-ins for the most popular game engines (including unity 3D and unreal engine) to enable game developers to incorporate advert spaces into their games at any point.

• Provide a platform for gamers to enjoy their favorite games while getting paid for their exposure to the adverts displayed before them in doing so based on the amount of exposure they got.

• Provides a platform for companies to connect to the games that are best fit to advertise their company products with reliable figures that portray the potential reach and the extent of gamer exposure.

DUAL TOKEN ECONOMY

VREO platform uses two tokens, the View Token (VIT) and the Merit Coin (MERO).

The View token will be used to store Metadata of every advert impression immutably on the blockchain (bye to ad fraud!).

The MERO will be used as the utility token of the platform to access the platform’s services. It is currently being used for the token sale.

ADVANTAGES OF USING THE VREO PLATFORM

• Ad blockers are ineffective with adverts done on Vreo games as they are incorporated directly into the gaming environment and don’t cause any disruptions of any sort.

• Vreo adverts can be adapted for games played on PCs, consoles, and mobile phones.

• Cost per quality view – this is one of the best packages offered on Vreo as advertisers pay precisely for the extent of exposure the gamers had to the advert. For example, if it was displayed as a video or banner, the size, was it cropped in any way? Any disruptions in the display? All these are considered.

• Gamers are paid based on the extent of their exposure to the adverts!

• Details of past and present campaigns provided by game developers are made available to advertisers.
