We all have our idea of what a perfect world is supposed to look like, don’t we? Even if we all picture it differently, one thing is common; our utopia is a world where our innermost desires and wishes are fulfilled and maintained. Wondering where Capella energy comes in? well, for a twenty-something year old medical student in Nigeria whose laptop is always where it’s supposed to be- on his lap, either reading, doing assignments, writing projects or just playing around the internet it is not farfetched for my pictured utopia to be a place where the capella idea is implemented- full scale and wide spread. Energy is useful to us in many ways- uncountable numbers of ways- but we all have our peculiar applications of it. Mine being the obvious; charge my devices, read by the lantern or electric bulb, power my appliances and so on, but those just stand at the tip of the iceberg when compared to the humongous needs of billions of electricity users worldwide. This could be one of the reasons why power companies seem to have so much “power” (no pun intended). Economies worldwide, companies and the future of their workers and workers’ families, academic success of students, human development, development of wonderful solutions to human problems through researches, security, general standard of living and even social life of the populace in any geographical setting in this present global village is dependent on the availability of sustainable and affordable electricity. With this in mind, I’m sure my idea of a utopia is not peculiar and is shared by millions of – if not billions – all over the world, especially in a third world or developing countries like mine.
MY IDEA OF A UTOPIA
Simple! It’s one where I can turn on my laptop at any point in the day and expected it to be powered for me to use as long as I like without having to worry about power outages. It is one where the samples I’m using to conduct my research are maintained at the -20°c needed for them to last the duration of the test or even for the optimal room temperature needed for the experiments to be conducted. It is one where data companies no longer have the excuse of offering data at an exorbitant price due to the fact that they have to provide their own power. It is one where I don’t have to schedule my reading hours to coincide with those the power is expected to come back on. I can go on and on- and on- but it all come to this; a world where power is available where, how, when and in the quantity I want and need it. All these dreams of mine are not only achievable, they are all also very near thanks to the product of the bright minds that came up with and run the Capella project.
HOW CAPELLA HELPS CREATE THAT WORLD
A Capella world is one where power is available to everyone everywhere at a market competitive price. Where the environment does not need to be polluted by industrial wastes produced by conventional power generation companies. Where people are encouraged to generate their own power needs through safe and sustainable renewable energy sources through the knowledge that they will get paid for sharing the excesses they generate. A Capella is world one where power excesses and wastages are minimized as producers are able to store power generated easily thereby increasing efficiency and the producers can provide the custom amount of power that each consumer needs. Where power outages due to natural phenomena are reduced by forecasting their occurrence; thereby giving both the consumers and producers time to prepare ahead. Where also, people can choose, at will, their power providers due to easily accessible and reliable information. Where every transaction that takes place is not only traceable but completely accessible with minimal effort.

P.S. here's an image depicting how much we currently rely on fossil fuels. Isn't it time we end all this? or at least did something about it?
