Stunning Drone Footage Of A Paddleboarder's Encounter With Two Whales
Australian photographer, Jaimen Hudson, specializes in aireal drone videography and one of his most recent videos is, indeed, special.
Near Fourth Beach off the coast of Esperance, a city in Western Australia, two southern right whales were spotted and Hudson sprung into action. “Dave Price, who lives close by, was just making his way over to the whales on his stand-up paddle board and they were really inquisitive and came over to meet him," Hudson explained.
There are estimated to be only 10,000 southern right whales in the world, though since hunting has ceased their numbers are on the incline. Native to the temperate to polar environments of the southern hemisphere, they have a thick layer of insulating blubber and are unable to swim through the equatorial waters without overheating.
