When a controversial lobbyist claimed during a TV interview that Monsanto’s weed killer Roundup was safe to drink, the host offered him a glass. Needless to say, he wasn’t willing to back up his claim.

In an upcoming documentary for French TV, Dr. Patrick Moore tells a Canal+ host that glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup herbicide, was not behind increasing cancer rates in Argentina.

“You can drink a whole quart of it and it won’t hurt you,” Moore says.

“You want to drink some?” the host asks. “We have some here.”

“I’d be happy to, actually,” Moore replies, then adding, “Not really. But I know it wouldn’t hurt me.”

“If you say so, I have some,” the host insists.

“I’m not stupid,” Moore snaps back.

“So, it’s dangerous?” the host asked.

Moore then claims that Roundup is so safe that “people try to commit suicide” by drinking it, and they “fail regularly.”

“Tell the truth, it’s dangerous,” the host says.

“It’s not dangerous to humans,” Moore replies.

“So, are you ready to drink one glass?” the host offers again.

“No, I’m not an idiot,” Moore says, clearly getting frustrated. “Interview me about golden rice, that’s what I’m talking about.”

It’s at this point that Moore ends the interview. “You’re a complete jerk” he says while storming off.

From EcoWatch:

Once upon a time, Dr. Patrick Moore was an early Greenpeace member. Now he is a public relations consultant for the polluting companies that Greenpeace works to change: Big Oil, pesticides and GMO agribusiness, forestry, nuclear power … anyone who puts up the money for truth-benders who appear to carry scientific and environmental authority.
